High customer traffic can lead to wear and tear on any type of commercial floor. Here at American Cleaning Service we can restore your beautiful commercial flooring no matter the type. We offer a variety of floor maintenance services to get rid of those scuff marks, and discolorations and return your floor to its original high gloss shine.
Regular waxing preserves flooring by protecting it from scratches, marks, nicks, spills, and stains. It can also diminish the appearance of grooves and faults in wood flooring. How often a floor should be waxed depends on the type of flooring, the wear and tear present, and the amount of traffic it regularly experiences. Waxing is beneficial to many different types of flooring including concrete, ceramic, vinyl, and more. After waxing, the floor is buffed and polished to shine once again.
Scrub and Wax
Over time, flooring can lose its original glossy look and begin to look extremely dull even with regular waxing. This is because dirt and grime can get waxed into the flooring during each waxing session. To fix this, the flooring needs to be scrubbed, recoated, and waxed. This brings the flooring back to its original luster while also prolonging the need for it to be stripped and waxed. Floors also keep their glossiness for a longer time after scrubbing and recoating, lessening the frequency of waxing.
During a scrub and wax, all of the dirt and soil gets scrubbed off of the top layer of the floor finish before being rinsed to get rid of remaining residue and left to dry. Then the flooring can be recoated and waxed. A scrub and wax is only needed when the flooring stops responding to waxing and polishing treatments.
Strip and Wax
Inevitably, dirt and dust particles along with other debris gets waxed into the floor with each wax layer. Often the floors will be scrubbed and waxed first to prolong the need for a strip and wax, which is the most aggressive cleaning procedure producing the most dramatic results. During a strip and wax, all of the current wax on the flooring is stripped from it. By doing this we get rid of all of the dirt and grime, leaving the floors bare. Once clean, we seal and wax the floors to reveal their luster once again. A strip and wax is recommended at least once a year on low to medium traffic floors, and every 4-6 months on high traffic floors.
Marble Floor Cleaning
Marble is extremely elegant, but that glamor can be short-lived if marble flooring is not properly maintained. Marble is a soft stone, which means it can be easily irritated by chemicals and other staining materials. Cleaning products need to be selected very carefully for marble, choosing only those that are neutral with a pH of 7. Marble is also porous in nature, gathering dirt and grime easily. If marble is cleaned with the wrong type of cleaning solution, or the wrong materials it can be etched, stained, and ruined. Because of its sensitive nature, marble flooring should only be cleaned by professionals who are knowledgeable about the types of cleaners to use and how it can be cleaned. Marble flooring should be professionally cleaned and resealed on a regular basis to keep it looking polished.
By having floors regularly maintained, they will keep their luster longer, be less likely to need resurfacing, and have a much longer lifetime. Between professional flooring maintenance, keep up with daily dusting and damp mopping to keep debris from being ground into the floor finish. This will lessen the need more extreme cleaning measures.
